Guys can be very hard to understand! I’m sure you already know that if you’re reading this text! We’ve all been there – you really like a boy and you think he likes you, but the signals he gives off sometimes say differently.
One minute he’s being nice and the next he’s being mean. One day he wants to talk to you and the next day he ignores you.
There is always a reason for a guy’s behaviour, and if you know the signs to look out for then you will begin to understand him better than he does himself!
This article gives a few of the signs he likes you.
How To Tell If a Guy Likes You:
1. He’s mean to you!
Ok, so the guy you like is mean to you. Does this mean he doesn’t like you? NO – absolutely not! Guy’s act very differently to girls, especially when they are around other boys.
If a guy’s friends find out he likes a girl, they will tease him and even let the girl know that he likes her.
This is not what a shy guy wants! It would totally embarrass him and make him feel really awkward.
Most guys will never show they like you if there’s the slightest possibility they will be made fun of, even making it seem like they don’t like you to throw their friends off the scent!
If he thinks you like him, this may change the way he acts, as he won’t be so nervous of his friends finding out and telling you, because he will want you to know!
If a guy you like is mean to you, look out for these signs which can help you understand whether he likes you or is just not worth bothering with,
1. Does he act differently when his friends aren’t around? With his friends not there, his guard will drop and his true personality will show. This is a great indicator of how he really thinks about you.
2. Does he look ashamed when he is mean to you? If he is acting mean to you in front of his friends, he might feel so awful that you will see it in his body language. He might not be able to meet your eyes with his, and he might even go red. If he likes you he won’t want to hurt your feelings and this will show.
3. Is he mean to lots of girls or just you? If he is only mean to you there has to be a reason why! If you haven’t done anything bad to him then why is he acting so mean? Watch how he acts around other girls!
Remember though that some guys are just plain mean! So don’t waste your time on a guy like that. If you have suspicions that he is a genuinely mean person, just forget him and move on!
2. He ignores you.
Just because he doesn’t talk to you does not mean he doesn’t like you!
Shyness is really hard to overcome for some people especially if they think they will be rejected.
Imagine if you really liked a guy, but when you spoke to him he totally blew you off and made you feel really bad.
Well, guys are just the same! He might be thinking that there is no way you would ever want to talk to him. He might think you are so out of his league that he would not have a chance of ever getting somewhere with a girl like you!
If you like him and he ignores you then you have to talk to him. Try it out, see what his reaction is. If he gets all nervous then you can pretty much say he likes you and he is so shy he doesn’t know what to do or say!
He might be the most confident guy in school around his friends but that doesn’t mean he is confident around girls.
If you really want to find out if he likes you then you have to test the water!
3. He looks at you.
Ok this may seem obvious, but you have to look at how he looks at you.
Does he look at your lips moving as you talk to him? This is a sure fire way to know he likes you!
When a guy is watching your lips move he is probably thinking what they would feel like to kiss!
If he stares into your eyes as you talk, this means he is really into what you are saying. The guy is mesmerized by you. Notice if he makes a lot of eye contact with you. Do his pupils dilate? Pupils dilating (getting larger) is a great way to know if someone finds you attractive.
Do you ever turn around and catch him looking away quickly? You just caught him checking you out! Try and watch him from the corner of your eye, if you find him looking at you then you can pretty much say he’s into you!
Guy’s will often get so into staring at a girl they like that they don’t even know they are doing it. Ask one of your friends to see if he’s checking you out when your back is turned. If he’s into you his eyes will be all over you!
So – keep an eye out for him keeping an eye out!
4. He likes the same things you like.
Do you ever talk with a guy and find out he likes all the TV shows and movies you like? Well – he probably doesn’t!
When a guy is talking with you about your interests, he is more than likely just trying to keep a conversation with you going.
He is loving talking with you so much that he will say anything to keep it moving!
He may share some of your interests, but if you find him agreeing with everything you like then you can be pretty sure he is into you!
If you can find out something that you know he’s not into, pretend you’re into it and see what he says! If he starts telling you how great he thinks it is – he’s into you!
If a guy doesn’t share your interests, don’t take it as he doesn’t like you – he may just be totally honest!
Just play it by ear!

5. He interacts with you on social media.
Watch how he interacts with you on social media. Does he like your Facebook comments more than other peoples?
Does he share random stuff with you or stuff he knows you’re into?
If a guy likes you he will try and interact with you as often as possible, even when he’s lying in bed miles away!
Keep an eye on all your social media accounts and see how often he interacts with you!
Does he ask about places you went that you only put on social media sites? That’s a sure sign he is interested in what you are doing!
6. He notices small things.
You would be surprised what a guy who likes you notices about you!
If a guy mentions your shoes (1) or clothes, or any tiny change you’ve made to your appearance, then he checks you out so much, he notices the slightest difference.
You can test this out by changing your earrings or using a lipstick with a slightly different shade than normal.
If he mentions it then he notices you, and the reason he notices you is because he likes you!
7. He asks questions.
If a guy asks you a lot of questions, he is trying to get close.
Does he seem interested in your home life or what you did last night? Does he ask about what music you listen to or what books you read?
He’s sussing you out, he wants to know everything!
He will be hanging on your every word, desperate to find out everything he can about you!
If he ever asks whether you have a boyfriend, even if it seems a totally innocent question, then have no doubt at all – he’s into you!
Watch out for hidden questions too. Instead of asking, ‘Have you got a boyfriend?’
He might say, ‘Did you go as couples to the movie or just with your friends?’
Or, ‘What do you do when you’re not with your friends?’
He’s asking if you have a boyfriend but not outright!
Listen very carefully to his questions, he will give a lot away!
8. He acts funny when you are around other guys.
The green eyed monster – jealousy! I’m not talking about him punching a guy in the face because you are talking to him, steer clear of guys like that!
Look out for subtle signs that he is worried you like another guy and not him.
When you are around your friends and talking to guys, does he keep glancing over? Does he try and get involved in any of the conversations you are having?
Just because a guy is jealous at this stage doesn’t mean he will be jealous if you hit it off. He is only worried that he won’t be the guy to get you, and this will show in his body language.
If you want to know if he likes you watch his reaction when you laugh and joke around guys. Don’t make it uncomfortable for him though!
When you have seen his reaction and you think he likes you, go and talk to him or get him involved in the conversation.
There is no worse feeling than thinking the girl or guy you like is interested in someone else!
9. He makes slight physical contact with you.
A guy who likes you will go to any length to just get a slight brush of your body against his!
If you notice his arm touching yours as he leans over you to get something, or he touches your arm as you are talking then this is a sign that he likes you. Guys love contact as much as girls.
If you feel a little electric shock between you as he brushes against you, then so did he, and if he does it again he liked it!
Put your hand briefly on his arm as you talk and watch his pupils. If they dilate then he is into you BIG time!
Touch is one of the most obvious ways to tell if he likes you so be aware of even the most seemingly innocent and quick contact between you.
10. He compliments you.
If a guy likes you he will at some point try and compliment you. Watch out for hidden compliments as well as obvious ones.
A hidden compliment might be as simple as him asking if you’ve had your hair done without saying how nice it is.
He might be too shy to come straight out and tell you he loves it, but he wants you to know he has noticed. Ask him what he thinks if this sort of question ever gets asked, his answer will tell you exactly what you want to know!
If he comes out with an obvious compliment, thank him and tell him how great it makes you feel that he noticed. If you don’t make him feel good that he commented then he might be too shy to do it next time!
If he compliments you, then compliment him next time he makes a change or gets new clothes. If he likes you it will be easy to tell from his reaction. When a girl he likes tells him how great he looks, his ego will go through the roof!
You can easily tell if he likes you by his reaction to a compliment you give him.

11. Appears in the same places you are.
I’m not talking about stalking here! If you find a guy outside your house looking at your bedroom window then that’s a different story!
I’m talking about if a guy randomly turns up at a restaurant you are at with your friends after you checked in there on Facebook.
Does he suddenly start hanging out somewhere you hang out where he never went before? He’s probably not trying to be weird, he just wants to ‘accidentally’ bump into you!
I’m not saying try this next tip often, but if you want to know if he is desperate to see you, put a status on Facebook that you and your friends are going bowling or something, then see if him and his friends ‘decide’ to go bowling too!
12. He smiles at you.
Ok, we all smile. We all have different smiles too, that we use for different people.
Watch how he smiles at you. If a guy smiles at you differently than he smiles at other girls then he sees you as different (in a good way!)
His lips might curl up a little higher and his eyes might have a different look than when he smiles at your friends. Look out for these little signs. He might be saving his best smile for you!
Remember to smile back though, a guy will soon stop smiling at you if you don’t return them!
13. He shows off.
Guy’s will try a lot of things to get your attention if they like you. If a guy shows off in front of his friends when you are around, take note of whether or not he keeps looking over at you.
Guy’s love to think they are impressing you and will do anything to get your approval.
If he is louder than normal, cracking jokes and trying to be the centre of attention, notice if he looks at you at any point.
If he does it’s a pretty good sign it’s all for your benefit!
14. His appearance changes.
If a guy suddenly starts dressing smarter than he used to, or gets new haircuts more often, since you started thinking he likes you, then the chances are he does!
When a guy begins to get feelings for a girl he will want to impress her in any way he can, and what he wears and how he looks is an easy way!
Make sure you compliment him (2) if you think he’s doing it for you though!
Take note of how he dresses when he is just hanging with his friends compared to when he goes somewhere he knows you might be.
If his style is different then there’s a reason, and that reason is probably you!
15. He always tries to sit near you.
If a guy likes you he will try and get as near to you as he can whenever he can.
He will try and get the closest seat he can to you without making it seem obvious.
If you are in a group with him around in a seating area, watch how he manoeuvres himself before he finds a seat. Does he quickly squeeze past someone to get closer to you or cut people off so they can’t get by him?
A guy who likes you will do anything to get a seat near you.
